It is here that we process our recovered chemicals from the recovery boiler and convert them back to a useable cooking chemical for the digester. The recaust cycle begins by taking these chemicals and turning them into a green liquor (so-called because of its green color). The green liquor is then clarified to remove "dregs", and subsequently reacted with lime to form white liquor. The white liquor is clarified to remove "lime mud" and then it's ready to be used for cooking. The mud solids are sent to the lime kiln to be converted into calcium oxide (lime) by heating the mud in the kiln. The lime kiln is also the incineration point for concentrated non-condensable gases (CNCG's). |
