Standing over 70 meters, our Recovery Boiler not only generates power for the mill, but it also begins the recycling process of the chemicals used to make Kraft Pulp. After the chips have been cooked, the chemicals are recovered and sent to be burned in the boiler. These chemicals now contain the organic glue (lignin) that was holding the wood fibres in the chips together. The first step in recycling these chemicals is to burn away the organic matter. The resulting heat is used to generate steam to dry our products, and drive one of two turbo-generators. The remaining chemicals are processed further for regeneration and then returned to the digester.
