LAND - SOLID WASTE

Howe Sound has developed an extensive recycling program encompassing a large range of reusable products including paper, cardboard, plastic, scrap sheet metal, florescent lamps, batteries, tires, aerosol cans, oily rags, toner cartridges - just to mention a few!

Process refuse is placed in our State of the Art industrial landfill on the Mill site. About half of this material is power boiler ash. Our new landfill began operating in 2001 and is estimated to have a 20 year life. Did you know that since 1993, Howe Sound has been successful in reducing its landfill waste from 20 truckloads a day to its current 14 truckloads a day?

The importance of recycling has always made good business and environmental sense. By reducing the volume of waste going to landfill, Howe Sound and our employees are helping to minimize the impact on the environment.
